CAESAREA, HAIFA, AKKO & ROSH HANIKRA
$104
This day tour is full of great sites and views. Begin by driving alongside the Mediterranean Sea via the coastal highway. The first stop will be at Caesarea, once the largest city in Judea. Here, on the ruins of an ancient anchorage, Herod built a splendid port that he dedicated to Augustus Caesar. The 3000 seat Roman amphitheatre with wonderful acoustics is still used today for summer concerts. The remains of the Crusader City, the Hippodrome, a Byzantine street with giant headless statues and the Roman Aqueduct are also part of the archaeological finds at the site. Continue to Acre to visit the Knights Halls, the crusaders underground city and the authentic white market with some oriental food and spices. UNESCO has recognized this ancient site as a World Heritage site. Continue north to Rosh Hanikra, beside the border with Lebanon, to visit the lovely caves created by the sea waves. End the day with a visit to Haifa, Israel’s major port city, where you will stop for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Haifa Bay and the golden domed Bahai Shrine, part of the exotic Persian Gardens. At the end of the day return to your hotel.
